More than 56,000 schoolchildren in the Vitebsk region are planned to be health-improved in summer camps
April 27, Vitebsk / Olga Bogacheva - BELTA /. More than 56,000 schoolchildren in the Vitebsk region are planned to be sent to health resorts this summer. This was announced today at a meeting of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee by Elena Andreykova, head of the representative office "Vitebsk Regional Department of the Republican Center for Health Improvement and Sanatorium-Resort Treatment of the Population," BELTA correspondent reports.
In the summer period, the region will organize the operation of 36 stationary country health resorts and 620 day camps, which will accommodate 25,000 and 31,000 children, respectively. About Br4.6 billion from all sources of funding will be allocated for the preparation of facilities for receiving students and strengthening their material and technical base. At the same time, the main part of the funds (Br3.5 billion) will be provided by the owners of the camps.
At the same time, the number of summer camps in the region is decreasing every year, Elena Andreykova noted. Thus, since 2004, 10 camps have been closed in the region. Due to financial difficulties on the part of some owners, there is underfunding of the preparation of facilities for the summer health campaign, as well as attempts to close health resorts. "Such facts are simply unacceptable. The heads of enterprises that own these facilities bear personal responsibility for their preparation," emphasized Alexander Kosinets, Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee.
The governor also focused on the need to complete the main repair work in the camps by May 15, conduct training and certification of educators and teachers who will work with children. An important aspect, according to Alexander Kosinets, is the salary of the teaching staff, cooks, and the cost of vouchers. "They need to be reviewed in order to financially stimulate staff to work better with children, and to make prices as affordable as possible for parents," the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee noted. -0-
