Более 60 млн руб. выделил Полоцкий райисполком на поощрение талантливых школьников и их педагогов

A colorful ceremony honoring the winners of the republican subject Olympiad was held at Secondary School No. 18 in the presence of students' parents and honored guests.

On behalf of the authorities, the event's protagonists were welcomed by the Deputy Chairman of the District Executive Committee, Petr Petkevich, who presented certificates of award from the special fund of the President of the Republic of Belarus for the support of gifted students.

The Head of the Department of Education, Sports and Tourism of the District Executive Committee, Irina Drozdova, wished the children new intellectual heights and noted that this year, representatives of Polotsk region won 47 diplomas based on the results of the third stage of the republican Olympiad – 4 more than last year. The absolute winner of the physics Olympiad was the team from Polotsk district, where all eight participants received awards.

Among the leaders in the humanities competitions, there are more girls, while boys are better at natural science disciplines. Warm words of congratulations and musical gifts were addressed to all of them.

Polotsk region has a tradition of awarding cash prizes to winners (from 4 to 6 base units) and challenge cups to schools where the Olympiad movement is most developed. Specially made statuettes of the Greek goddess of victory, Nike, are used as honorary prizes. Among rural schools, Vetrino Secondary School received the award symbolizing constant progress, in the district center, Secondary School No. 16 was recognized as the leader, and in the category of new type educational institutions – Polotsk State Gymnasium No. 2, which has 56 district, 19 regional, and 5 republican stage awards.

Heads of educational institutions were presented with letters of appreciation for creating optimal conditions for student training. What do these conditions entail?

According to Valentina Kolyadko, Principal of Gymnasium No. 2, the main components of an effective educational process are hard work and talent, which unite children and educators. A teacher must possess high professional and methodological skills and the ability to collaborate with students. For a child, a focus on results is very important, enabling them to be successful in their future life. Furthermore, according to Valentina Petrovna, the positive educational environment of the gymnasium helps shape students' moral core, strengthens their character, prepares them for future challenges, and helps them become true individuals.

And how do the young intellectuals themselves define the formula for success?

– Work, diligence, self-development, understanding one's weaknesses, and knowing when to ask for help to correct them – believes Andrey Luferov, one of the “star” students of Gymnasium No. 2. His diploma from the Republican Physics Olympiad grants him the right to enter a specialized university without exams.

His teammates Sergey Bukhalovich (Gymnasium No. 2) and Vitaly Vistunov (Secondary School No. 16) are in the ninth grade and have not yet decided on their future profession, but they know for sure that it will be related to their favorite subject. After all, physics is the foundation of life, and passion for one's work energizes and brings pleasure. The students are convinced that success must be built on a foundation of knowledge. It is a high level of preparation that gives a person confidence in their abilities and helps them achieve their goals.
