More than 60 roadside service facilities will be commissioned in the Vitebsk region this year

More than 60 roadside service facilities will be commissioned in the Vitebsk region this year, the transport and communications department of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee informed a BELTA correspondent. In January-May, 7 facilities were commissioned, including 3 gas stations and 4 catering facilities. The planned completion date for the remaining facilities is the third-fourth quarters of the current year. Investors in the construction include individual entrepreneurs and private enterprises, as well as district consumer societies and "Vitebskobleneftoprodukt". For example, "Vitebskavtodor" is reconstructing buildings of a post station, an architectural monument of the first half of the 19th century, into a hotel complex in the village of Kuzmino, Gorodok district, on the international highway border of the Russian Federation - Vitebsk - Gomel - border of Ukraine. The Vitebsk region ranks second in the republic in terms of the length of republican roads (19.2% of the total length), however, the density of roadside service facilities is 59 units per 1 thousand km, compared to the national average of 108 units per 1 thousand km. Of the total number of roadside services, gas stations and catering facilities account for the largest share - 33.5% and 31.2% respectively. To achieve international standards in the region, it is necessary to build about 30 gas stations, the same number of service stations, and over 40 catering facilities and hotels. -0-
