More than 60 applicants from different countries have applied to participate in IFMC 2018 in Vitebsk
IFMC 2018 in Vitebsk will be held from November 20 to 25. Its main intrigue – the international competition of modern choreography – will be held in three rounds.
The first round is the selection of applications by an expert council based on submitted video materials. At this stage, applications from 63 contestants from Belarus, Armenia, Germany, Italy, China, Poland, Moldova, Russia, and other countries have been reviewed, presenting 99 works. "Among them are many choreographers and directors already known to us, but there are also young, interesting talents trying their hand. A lot of strong works have been submitted, so we cannot yet name the exact number of participants and countries. According to the competition regulations, the results of the first round will be announced on October 25. I think there will be 12-15 countries," emphasized Marina Romanovskaya. Belarusian choreographers have submitted many strong works. "At the moment, we are even somewhat at a loss as to whom to select," added the organizer.
The second, closed round will take place in the presence of an international jury in the Vitebsk Concert Hall on November 22-23. Spectators will be able to see the finalists' works in the final, public round on November 24. The winners of the competition will be awarded the titles of laureates, presented with diplomas, and receive established cash prizes. Also, based on the results of the final, the winners of the special prizes "For Semantic Content of Dance," "Postscript," and the special prize named after Evgeny Panfilov, awarded to the best choreographer, will be determined.
The festival also includes interactive lectures, theoretical master classes, seminars, round tables, creative laboratories for dancers, practical and theoretical master classes, and other events. In the foyer of the "Vitebsk" concert hall, there will be an exhibition-installation dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the festival, the "Museum-Archive," a photo project by Anna Moiseuk-Barkovskaya "Dialogue with Myself" (Lithuania), and an exhibition of sculptures "Plasticity of Form" by Andrey Vorobyov (Belarus). The founders of the festival are the Ministry of Culture, the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, the Vitebsk City Executive Committee, and the National Academic Bolshoi Opera and Ballet Theatre of Belarus. The organizer is the "Vitebsk" Cultural Center.
