More than 7.5 thousand Vitebsk residents will take part in the procession on the occasion of Victory Day

More than 7.5 thousand Vitebsk residents will take part in a festive procession today to mark Victory Day, the Vitebsk City Executive Committee's Culture Department informed a BELTA correspondent. The celebrations in honor of the 66th anniversary of the Great Victory will open in Vitebsk with a procession from Freedom Square to Victory Square. Veterans of the Great Patriotic War will lead the column. They will be followed by representatives of regional and city authorities, educational, cultural, and sports institutions of the regional center, and labor collectives of the Oktyabrsky, Pervomaysky, and Zheleznodorozhny districts of the city. Activists of the regional organization of the BRSM will close the column. A festive rally with the laying of flowers and wreaths at the memorial will be held at Victory Square near the memorial complex in honor of the liberator soldiers, partisans, and underground fighters of the Vitebsk region. The Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Alexander Kosinets, will congratulate everyone present on Victory Day. The official part of the event will be continued by folk festivals and concerts organized at all venues of the regional center. Thus, at Victory Square, immediately after the rally, a performance by creative groups of educational institutions will begin. The cultural and historical complex "Golden Ring of the City of Vitebsk 'Dvina'" will host a concert of choral and pop groups of the regional center "Apple and Pear Trees Bloomed...". In the Park of Culture and Recreation of Railway Workers, citizens will take part in the sports and art festival "We are the Heirs of Victory!". An exhibition-sale of paintings by artists and handicrafts by folk artists will be held on Suvorov Street. Frunze Park invites everyone to the concert and dance program "In Old Rhythms by the Fountain". The Summer Amphitheater will host a performance by People's Artist of Russia Nadezhda Babkina and the ensemble "Russian Song" today. Festive celebrations in Vitebsk will continue until late in the evening, and their final chord will be a colorful fireworks display in the night sky of the city.-0-
