More than 800 facilities for active winter recreation will operate in the Vitebsk region
December 8, Vitebsk / Sergey Kotovets - BELTA /. More than 800 facilities for mass active recreation will be organized in the Vitebsk region in the current winter season, the regional educational and methodological center for physical education of the population informed a BELTA correspondent. Compared to the 2009/2010 season, their number will increase by almost 10% - mainly due to the increase in the number of ice rinks and ski trails in rural areas.
In total, there will be 84 hockey rinks in the region (including 14 in Vitebsk). Such fields will appear mainly near schools, sports educational institutions, as well as in densely populated areas. A modern hockey box has been built in Vitebsk near the new secondary school No. 46 in the Bilevo microdistrict. Along with three modernized outdoor rinks in other districts of the city, it will host participants of the "Golden Puck" hockey tournament. In addition, 4 speed skating tracks will be flooded in Vitebsk, Verkhnedvinsk, and Orsha.
Ice skating enthusiasts will be able to enjoy their time on outdoor ice rinks. In total, it is planned to flood more than 370 ice rinks in the region, including an outdoor skating rink near the Ice Sports Palace in Vitebsk. In 2009, an ice rink was organized for the first time on the renovated Victory Square in the regional center. The new place for active recreation was liked by the townspeople, so in the current season, two ice rinks have already been flooded on the square.
Two ski slopes are ready to receive speed descent enthusiasts in the vicinity of the urban-type settlement of Rubba, not far from the regional center. The slopes, about 200 m long (height difference about 20 degrees) and 300 m long (almost 30 degrees), will be equipped with additional lifts this season. Comfortable conditions will be created for cross-country skiing enthusiasts.
In general, it is planned to lay almost 350 ski trails in the region, which is 13% more than their number in the past winter season. The network of rental points will expand to 70 facilities. -0-
