More than 800 participants gathered at the "Slavic Courtyard" in Vitebsk
July 10, Vitebsk /Olga Bogacheva - BELTA/. Over 800 participants gathered at the "Slavic Courtyard" of the City of Masters, which opened today as part of the "Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk" festival, Viktor Kibisov, director of the Vitebsk City Center for Folk Crafts and Arts "Zadvine", told a BELTA correspondent.
The former Salt Warehouses of Vitebsk (an architectural monument of the 18th century) are hosting folk craftsmen for the second year in a row. Straw weavers, ceramists, weavers, needlewomen, potters, ceramists, and blacksmiths are comfortably located here. Among them are over 200 representatives from different regions of Belarus, Russia, and Ukraine. Other participants include members of historical reconstruction clubs, creative groups, musicians, and catering workers.
The traditional events of the City of Masters will be the festivals of pottery and blacksmithing art. This year, they will be joined by the "Malyavanki" competition – painted carpets, which will bring together over 40 masters. During the competition, visitors will not only be able to observe their work but also get acquainted with the original works of the outstanding representative of the "malyavanki" genre, the original Belarusian artist Yuzef Drozdoch.
There is no doubt that every visitor to the "Slavic Courtyard" will find something to their liking. Young girls will be charmed by the sparkle of countless jewelry made of semi-precious stones, beads, and other materials, and the riot of colors of shawls and scarves. Keepers of the hearth will certainly be attracted by amulets for the home, various painted and decorated utensils, and numerous useful household items. Men will also not remain indifferent: they will appreciate the skillfully crafted wooden and straw furniture, blacksmith products, and much more. In general, the most vivid characteristic of the entire palette of the City of Masters can be the word "Wow!", which a BELTA correspondent heard more than once from visitors during their acquaintance with the fair. -0-
