More than 90 agricultural organizations will be inspected in the Vitebsk region during the safety month

More than 90 farms in the Vitebsk region are planned to be inspected by state labor inspectors during the republican safety month in agriculture, the first deputy head of the Vitebsk regional department of the State Labor Inspectorate of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection, Sergey Anufriev, told a BELTA correspondent.

The republican month will be held from July 18 to August 18. The reason for its holding was the violation of the established requirements of labor protection legislation in agricultural organizations, the lack of proper control by their management over the fulfillment of the requirements of Directive No. 1 "On Measures to Strengthen Public Safety and Discipline".

The current situation largely contributed to the increase in injuries in the agro-industrial complex. Thus, in the first half of the year alone, eight workers died at the enterprises of the agro-industrial complex of the Vitebsk region, and 26 people received serious injuries, which is 4 and 2.6 times more, respectively, compared to the same period last year. In total, over six months of this year, the level of serious injuries in the region increased by 42% to 51 cases compared to January-July 2010, and deaths increased by 45% to 15 cases.

Sergey Anufriev noted that the causes of accidents in agricultural organizations have not changed for several years. Thus, most of them are related to the failure of managers and specialists to fulfill their labor protection duties, violations of labor and production discipline by the victims, and alcohol intoxication.-0-
