More than 90 students and pupils are assisting in the berry harvest at the Tolochin Cannery fields

This season, 6 detachments, over 90 students from four higher education institutions in Vitebsk and the Orsha State Food College are assisting in harvesting berries at the Tolochin Cannery. Last week, specialists from the Vitebsk Regional Organization of the Belarusian Trade Union of Healthcare Workers monitored compliance with labor protection legislation at the enterprise where the students work.

The young people live in a dormitory with all amenities: shower cabins with hot water supply are equipped. Hot meals are organized in the canteen, which is located in the same building. Only 50% of the cost is deducted from the students' earnings, and for the front-runners, meals are completely free. Before starting work at the enterprise, an introductory briefing was held with the students, they were trained in safe work methods and techniques, and were also instructed directly at the workplace.

The work schedule is set from 8:00 to 17:30 with a lunch break from 13:00 to 14:00. Transportation to the workplace is provided by the enterprise's transport. Drinking water supply is organized in the industrial garden where the student teams work.

Natalia Kuzmenko, commander of the "Brigantina" construction squad and a 5th-year student at the Vitebsk State Academy of Veterinary Medicine, has been harvesting at the Tolochin Cannery fields for the third year in a row, fulfilling a double norm (which is 80 kg of gooseberries or 50 kg of red currants per day). "Personally for me, a student squad is, first of all, romance! I am happy that I had the opportunity to work as part of student squads, where, in addition to life experience, I gained true, loyal friends, and learned to love life and my native land," shares Natalia her impressions.

Marina Aleinikova, chief technologist of the Tolochin Cannery and chairperson of the enterprise's primary trade union organization, expressed satisfaction with the students' work and promised that an excursion to the enterprise would be organized at their numerous requests.

It is necessary

it should be noted that the popularity of the student squad movement in the Vitebsk region is growing year after year. At the same time, the management of enterprises and trade unions are doing everything possible to make the stay in student squads as safe as possible for the life and health of young people.
