More than 900 economic entities in the Vitebsk region carry out exports
December 1, Vitebsk / Diana Kurilo - BELTA /. More than 900 economic entities of the Vitebsk region are engaged in export. Over 1.5 thousand types of products from Vitebsk manufacturers are in demand abroad. These data were presented at a press conference by the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Alexander Kosinets, reports a BELTA correspondent.
The export growth rate for 10 months exceeded 136% compared to the same period in 2009. Chemical fibers, fiberglass, linen fabrics, televisions, machine tools, footwear, knitwear, garments, confectionery, meat and dairy products, and veterinary drugs remain in demand abroad. To promote them, manufacturing enterprises pursue a well-thought-out marketing policy. This year alone, over 80 out-of-town fair events were held in the regions of the Russian Federation with the participation of Vitebsk economic entities, which were consistently popular with Russian buyers.
Currently, the region maintains foreign economic relations with 112 countries, and goods are supplied to the markets of more than 70 states. The main trading partners are Russia, Kazakhstan, China, Germany, Ukraine, the Netherlands, Estonia, Latvia, and Poland. On average, the share of exports in the production volume of industrial products and consumer goods is about 55%.
Over the five-year period, the volume of product supplies to India, Libya, China, Argentina, Iran, Mexico, and Singapore has significantly increased, and trade channels have been opened with Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Vietnam, Venezuela, Kuwait, Namibia, New Zealand, Nigeria, Mongolia, Serbia, Saudi Arabia, and Pakistan. Along with the export of goods, the export of services, particularly tourism, construction, information, medical, and educational services, is actively developing.
In the coming five-year period, the region has set a task to increase the number of foreign trade partners and conduct foreign trade activities with at least 130 countries. By the end of 2015, the export of goods should reach $1.5 billion, and imports $1.2 billion.
