Over Br170 billion has been allocated to strengthen the material and technical base of healthcare facilities in the Vitebsk region over the past four years, the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee's Healthcare Department informed a BELTA correspondent. Significant funds were allocated for the needs of rural healthcare. As part of the development of agro-towns, 68 outpatient clinics, 16 district hospitals, 6 nursing care hospitals, and 108 paramedic and obstetric stations have been renovated, re-equipped with medical equipment, and provided with sanitary vehicles. According to the regional healthcare department, this has made it possible to increase the accessibility of medical care, including specialized care, for the rural population. Fully modernized and re-equipped operating rooms and intensive care and anesthesia departments of all central district hospitals in the region have been put into operation. The Gorodok Central District Hospital, as well as maternity hospitals in Vitebsk, Orsha, and Novopolotsk, have undergone major repairs.
