More than Br30 million will be allocated to the Vitebsk region for the development of healthcare this year
Significant attention is paid to the modernization and strengthening of the material and technical base of medical institutions, and the opening of new necessary facilities, he noted. "We started the year with the commissioning of a 40-apartment residential building for medical workers in Orsha, and opened a children's outpatient clinic in the Bilevo microdistrict in Vitebsk. The construction of the surgical building of the oncology dispensary in the regional center is currently progressing at a rapid pace. Competitions have already been held for it, and the equipment for the operating rooms has been identified. It is also planned to complete the construction of a residential building for medical workers in Dubrovno and the work on the Central District Hospital in Senno. Another facility that we will try to commission by July is the Central City Hospital in Vitebsk," Yuri Derkach said.
The region will continue the practice of placing outpatient clinics for children, adults, and women in new residential microdistricts. "This will ensure the accessibility and quality of primary healthcare for people," he emphasized. A significant amount of repair work will soon be carried out at the Vitebsk Regional Clinical Hospital. "All functional departments have been introduced there and are equipped with high-tech equipment. Therefore, if we talk about where medical care is provided, everything is at the highest level. As for the condition of the facility itself, the wards, lobbies, and other premises require repair. We are currently looking for a source of funding that will allow us to solve this issue next year," the head of the main department added.
Such large-scale repairs have become possible due to the shift of medical care volumes to the districts: if previously this indicator was 30%, it is now 70%. In addition, a medical center has been established in Orsha, which can fully provide all high-tech care for those in need, allowing the regional clinical hospital to be unloaded. "It should also be taken into account that work is actively progressing on the creation of an inter-district medical center based in Polotsk and Novopolotsk. We are already seeing a reduction in the waiting list for traumatology for major joint replacements and ophthalmology," concluded Yuri Derkach.
