More than Br460 billion was attracted to the economy of small and medium-sized towns of the Vitebsk region in 2009

This was reported to a BELTA correspondent at the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee. The implementation of socio-economic development programs for these settlements was under special control of local authorities in 2009. Thanks to significant investments and effective work over the past year, it was possible to implement 141 investment projects here, fulfill targets for wage growth, job creation, unemployment reduction, production of consumer goods, number of employed in the economy, and number of small enterprises. For example, Lepel Textile LLC began producing technical fabrics, in the urban settlement of Surazh, the local forestry enterprise organized the production of blanks for the manufacture of euro-pallets and shovel handles. In Yanovichi, the private enterprise EkoPolitek opened a plant for processing polystyrene and plastic, in Dubrovno, OJSC AnteneyaPrime launched the production of sewing products, and in Braslav, SOOO AkvaDin started producing roofing materials, and private enterprise Forest-Express - lumber. And all these productions created new jobs. In 2010, small urban settlements of the region are expected to increase industrial production by 9% compared to 2009, and consumer goods production by 8%. In addition, the task is set to create more than 3,000 jobs, increase the number of small enterprises to 1,360, including newly created ones - up to 153. -0-
