More than half of the 583 newly recruited teachers in the Vitebsk region will work in rural schools
August 23, Vitebsk / Sergey Kotovets - BELTA/. In the new academic year, secondary schools in the Vitebsk region will become the first place of work for 583 young teachers, more than half of whom will go to work in rural areas. This was announced today at the regional pedagogical conference by the head of the education department of the regional executive committee, Ivan Shchurok, reports a BELTA correspondent.
"It is important to create all the necessary conditions for young specialists, including housing, so that they go to work with pleasure, because the first professional steps are remembered for a lifetime," noted Ivan Shchurok. The solution of these issues largely depends on local authorities and heads of pedagogical teams. In total, more than 14 thousand teachers work in the schools of the region, of which over 90% have higher education, and 76.5% of teachers have the highest and first qualification categories. About 10% of specialists have reached pre-retirement and retirement age.
One of the tasks for the region's educational institutions in the new academic year will be the effective implementation of measures for the informatization of the educational process and the introduction of electronic learning tools into the educational process. About 93% of educational institutions and education management bodies are connected to the Internet, and work is underway to ensure broadband access to the World Wide Web. Regional resource centers have been created for the implementation of information technologies, including those based on schools and gymnasiums.
By the beginning of the academic year, significant work has been done to organize hot meals in educational institutions. Thus, in the region as a whole, about 96% of students are provided with meals, including over 56% of children receiving free hot meals, and in rural areas, hot meals are available for 100% of students. About 80% of educational institutions independently provide meals for schoolchildren.
To organize the transportation of children to schools, it is planned to purchase 21 buses for each district of the region by the end of 2011. Today, the bus fleet of educational institutions numbers 151 buses, and almost 100% of rural students have the opportunity to use school transport.-0-
