More than half of the housing commissioned in January-September in the Vitebsk region was built for those in need

More than 51% of the housing commissioned in the Vitebsk region in January-September was built for those in need of improved housing conditions. This was reported to BELTA by the region's main statistics department.

Organizations of all forms of ownership built 2.3 thousand new apartments in the Vitebsk region over 9 months. 191.8 thousand sq.m of total housing area were commissioned, or 6.6% of the total commissioned in the country. Almost half of the main indicator - 48.9% - were new individual residential buildings, with a total area of 93.8 thousand sq.m. 148.8 thousand sq.m of housing were built in cities and urban-type settlements. The task set by the region's authorities is to ensure an increase in affordable and comfortable apartments and houses, especially in rural areas. This will directly affect the development of the districts: it will increase the standard of living in these territories and reduce the outflow of local residents. In rural settlements, 43 thousand sq.m of total housing area were built and commissioned in January-September, which is 22.4% of the total commissioned in the Vitebsk region.

99.6 thousand sq.m were built for those in need of improved housing conditions. This is more than half of the total volume of housing commissioned over nine months in the region - 51.9%. Moreover, 81 thousand sq.m were built for people carrying out housing construction with state support. "Speaking of large families, 42.1 thousand sq.m of total housing area were commissioned in the Vitebsk region," the department added.

New rental apartments and houses accounted for slightly more than 6% of the total commissioned. In total, from January to September inclusive, 11.7 thousand sq.m of rental housing were built in the Vitebsk region.
