More than a hundred participants gathered for the patriotic event “17 Facets of Unity” in Vitebsk
The most pressing issues that have arisen in civil society were discussed in a dialogue format: Belarus's historical path, its national idea, the development of relations with the Russian Federation and the countries of the collective West, as well as the public demand for party building at the current stage of civil society development in our country.
According to Oleg Romanov, Chairman of the Public Association "Belaya Rus," a member of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly, a legal framework is currently being prepared in Belarus for the formation of a new type of political parties:
– The need to make party life more active and constructive has matured. The law on political parties, which is currently being worked on by experts in parliament and is expected to be adopted in the autumn, is aimed at achieving this goal. Its update will give new impetus to the development of party building in Belarus, set goals and define boundaries, because in a state governed by the rule of law, any activity, any social process, must be regulated by law in one way or another.
Touching upon the organization he heads, Oleg Romanov emphasized that "Belaya Rus" is currently a public association, but there is a demand for a political party among its members and in society as a whole:
– If we see that this need is truly mature, that people understand why they and society need this party, then we will be able to solve this task, because "Belaya Rus" has a powerful social base (there are about 200,000 of us), a mature ideological platform (charter, program), and experience in organizational and managerial work. On this basis, we will be able to carry out the work to form a political party.
Highlighting the importance of the marathon, Oleg Romanov emphasized that our people do not live solely by daily chores, worries, and work. Today, Belarusians possess a sufficiently high level of education and cultural development. Therefore, they are actively interested in issues related to public life, historical events, and the future path of our country. The format of dialogue platforms allows for the creation of optimal conditions to address these issues accurately and at the proper level, the head of the organization is convinced.
Fully in solidarity with his opinion is Viktor Karlov, Chairman of the Railway District Organization of the RPO "Belaya Rus", Head of the Resource Center of the Vitebsk Branch of the Academy of Communications:
– Such events are very necessary now, considering the situation around our country and the preservation of Belarus's sovereignty, its political strengthening. They are especially needed by our youth. There was a period when we somewhat neglected the issue related to the patriotic education of the younger generation. Western countries took advantage of this to rewrite history, which is sacred to the Belarusian people. The timely emphasis placed by the Head of State on this topic has helped to level the situation. Participation in such dialogues allows not only to express one's thoughts and ideas but also to increase the level of political awareness and civic responsibility among the population.
