More than a third of enterprises' utility debt in the Vitebsk region falls on agricultural organizations
July 27, Vitebsk / Diana Kurilo - BELTA /. The main debtors of housing and communal services enterprises in the Vitebsk region are agricultural enterprises - they account for 38% of the total overdue debt of legal entities, the Department of Housing and Communal Services of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee informed a BELTA correspondent.
As of July 1 of the current year, agricultural organizations had overdue payments to utility companies totaling Br12.8 billion. Housing and communal services organizations provide services to more than 240 agricultural enterprises, of which 150 economic entities have debts. At the same time, 41% of the total debt falls on 16 enterprises.
The main problems in recovering overdue debt from agricultural organizations, according to the department's specialists, are that these debtors have obligations to other creditors for payments to the budget, the social protection fund, bank loans, wages, and energy resources, as well as the lack of liquid assets that could be sold to cover debts.
In the Vitebsk region, the accounts receivable of legal entities for utility services for the first half of 2011 amounted to Br47.6 billion, including overdue debt - Br36.3 billion, or 70.6% of the total debt of legal entities. Following agricultural enterprises, the main debtors of utility companies are enterprises of the concern "Bellegprom", which account for one fifth of the overdue debt.-0-
