More than a thousand schoolchildren are competing in knowledge at the regional stage of subject Olympiads

From January 9 to 13, over a thousand gifted schoolchildren from the Vitebsk region are participating in the regional stage of olympiads in 17 academic subjects. A team will be formed from the winners to defend the region's honor at the republican stage during the spring holidays.

Educational institutions in Vitebsk, Polotsk, and Orsha are hosting the participants of the intellectual competitions. For example, the regional center is holding olympiads in mathematics, biology, astronomy, physics, computer science, chemistry, geography, labor training, and foreign languages.

According to the Education Department of the Regional Executive Committee, since the first stage, over 40,000 schoolchildren and students of secondary vocational institutions in the Vitebsk region have participated in the olympiad movement. Last year, at the republican stage of subject olympiads, representatives of the region won 70 diplomas. Traditionally, the Vitebsk region is strong in Belarusian, English, and computer science.
