In 2019, the largest number of forestry roads were built in the Vitebsk region

In 2019, organizations of the Ministry of Forestry built and commissioned 17 forestry roads with a total length of 102.5 km (against the target of 100 km), the ministry's press service reported.

The largest number of roads appeared in the Vitebsk region - in the Begomlsky, Gorodoksky, Lepelsky, Orshansky, Polotsky, Postavsky and Ushachsky forestry enterprises. Their total length is 40.9 km.

In the Brest region, 22 km of forestry roads were built (Drogichinsky, Polesie forestry enterprises), in the Mogilev region - 14.1 km (Bykhovsky, Cherikovsky forestry enterprises), in the Grodno region - 8.8 km (Smorgon Experimental Forestry Enterprise), in the Minsk region - 8.4 km (Kletsky, Pukhovichi forestry enterprises), in the Gomel region - 8.3 km (Oktyabrsky, Lelchitsky forestry enterprises).

The construction volumes of forestry roads are regulated by the current state program "Belarusian Forest". The increase in the length of the transport network in the forest is due to the need to develop the annually increasing allowable cut, timely reforestation work and measures to combat forest diseases and pests, and extinguish forest fires.

Over the past ten years, forestry enterprises alone have laid about a thousand kilometers of forestry roads in the country. According to the results of the current five-year plan (2016-2020), at least 500 km should be commissioned.
