Most sewing enterprises in the Vitebsk region have started producing protective equipment
The majority of sewing enterprises in the Vitebsk region have switched to the production of personal protective equipment, reported the Chairperson of the Economics Committee of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Anzhelika Nikitina, at a meeting of the regional headquarters for combating the spread of coronavirus and protecting the population from infection.
Yesterday, sewing enterprises in the region produced 70 thousand masks, as well as thousands of suits. State-owned and private enterprises, consumer service centers, and other organizations are involved. "48 enterprises are manufacturing masks in the Vitebsk region, and 8 more will join soon," said Anzhelika Nikitina. Currently, there is enough material in stock for the production of 800 thousand such items.
The products are shipped primarily to pharmacies. However, not all manufactured masks are certified, so pharmacy chains are not allowed to sell them. Furthermore, there is a corresponding prohibition from the prosecutor's office. The Chairman of the State Control Committee, Leonid Anfimov, promised to discuss this issue with the Ministry of Health and the Prosecutor General's Office. He also added that by the beginning of next week, there should be no shortage of masks in pharmacies.
"Currently, there are no serious concerns in the Vitebsk region that require intervention at the government or head of state level. Everything is being resolved calmly on the ground. If there are problems, they are immediately communicated to the republican management bodies," said Leonid Anfimov, speaking to journalists.
The Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Nikolai Sherstnev, announced the current figures for respiratory infections and pneumonia in the region. In 12 districts, there has been a decrease in cases over the day; in Vitebsk, the number of ARVI cases has decreased by 5.7%, and overall in the region, by 9.5%. The increase in the incidence of diseases in the Braslav, Dokshitsy, and Senno districts is concerning.
