May 28, Vitebsk / Olga Bogacheva - BELTA /. Braslav will plunge into the Middle Ages on May 29-30, reported the head of the culture department of the Braslav District Executive Committee, Galina Korotkova, to a BELTA correspondent.
The international festival of traditional culture "Braslavskie Zarnitsy" has started in the city today. In addition to numerous guests from all regions of Belarus, the Baltic countries, Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, and Poland, its participants will include medieval knights, their beautiful ladies, bards, and artisans, who will set up their tent city on Zamkovaya Hill on May 29. For two days, they will help all guests and participants of the festival immerse themselves in the fairy-tale mystery of the Middle Ages called "The Sword of Brachislav".
It is noteworthy that the extensive theatricalization will be dedicated not only to demonstrating the martial exploits of ancient knights but also to peaceful pursuits. Weavers, potters, blacksmiths, and straw weavers, who create their products using ancient techniques, will demonstrate their skills at the festival. In addition, everyone will be able to take a short excursion into history with scientists and archaeologists, who will talk about past events and show how archaeological excavations are carried out.
Collectives performing ancient music, as well as offers to try dishes prepared according to ancient recipes, will help to fully recreate the atmosphere of the Middle Ages.
The international festival of traditional culture "Braslavskie Zarnitsy" is dedicated to the 945th anniversary of Braslav, the 70th anniversary of the formation of the Braslav District, and the 65th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War. The event is organized by the Braslav District Executive Committee and the Department of Culture of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee. -0-
