Braslav and Tolochin districts will cooperate with the regions of Smolensk and Pskov oblasts
Two districts of the Vitebsk region signed cooperation agreements with Russian regions today.
For the second day, a delegation from the self-government of the Safonovsky district municipality of the Smolensk region of Russia is on an introductory visit to the Tolochinsky district, and today an agreement on twinning was signed at the district executive committee. It provides for the establishment and development of friendly and business ties between youth, cultural, creative, sports, educational institutions, commercial and public organizations, industrial and trade enterprises; creating conditions for strengthening economic and trade relations.
"We will start with cultural interaction, as a bridge of friendship can be easily built on this basis, which will be useful in establishing business and economic contacts at the level of individual subjects of the regions. In particular, our groups have already been invited to Safonovo in the summer to celebrate the anniversary of this young city. Since last year, we have begun to actively establish ties with Russia, we have befriended the city of Konakovo in the Tver region. After May 9, we expect guests from Velikiye Luki," explained the Tolochinsky District Executive Committee.
Due to its geographical location, the Braslav district has more contacts with the neighboring regions of Latvia and Lithuania. However, Russia is also a strategic partner, which is why a delegation from the Pskov district has been visiting the district since yesterday. The Russians visited the main attractions of the town, toured the Museum of Traditional Culture, and have already extended invitations to Braslav craftspeople for traditional fairs in Pskov. "Today, the chairmen of the district executive committee and the district council of deputies from our side, as well as the head of the Pskov district and the chairman of the assembly of deputies, signed an agreement on partnership and cooperation. It implies an exchange of experience, familiarization with the socio-economic life of the two districts, interaction in the spheres of culture and education, healthcare, sports and tourism, and, of course, is aimed at establishing trade and economic contacts," noted Antonina Obolevich, head of the department of ideological work, culture, and youth affairs of the Braslav District Executive Committee.
She specified that in the sphere of education, the district authorities expect to increase the enrollment of Pskov students in the Vidzy State Vocational College of Agricultural Production. Currently, only three students from the Russian region are studying there, although there were more before. Therefore, after signing the agreement, the guests visited this educational institution. They were also introduced to the main investment proposals of the district and the products of the bakery and cheese factory, a branch of OJSC "Gluboksky Dairy and Canning Plant". "For now, this is just advertising, but we are confident that friendly visits at the administrative level will be followed by concrete business contacts between the enterprises of our districts," concluded Antonina Obolevich.
