Briefing on the results of the Vitebsk region delegation's participation in the Forum of Twin Regions of China's Shandong Province
It is planned that the participants of this project will be a Chinese agricultural company interested in supplying peat products in large volumes, and UP "Vitebskoblgaz", which includes a branch for peat extraction and processing in the Dokshitsky district. "There is mutual interest in this project. In the near future, we intend to thoroughly work out the logistics of product supplies, their volumes, costs, and other key aspects," stated Anzhelika Nikitina.
The Chairperson of the Economics Committee also noted that significant interest was shown during the forum in the meat and dairy products manufactured in the Vitebsk region. "The delegation included the head of the Gluboksky Meat Processing Plant. And now the issue of certifying this enterprise for the purpose of selling products to the Chinese market is being worked out. I believe that we also have good prospects for further development here," added Anzhelika Nikitina.
The Forum of Twin Regions of China's Shandong Province was held from October 15-17 in Jinan. The delegation of the Vitebsk region, headed by the Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee, Nikolai Sherstnev, included heads of the Economics Committee of the Regional Executive Committee, cities of the region, the administration of the "Vitebsk" Free Economic Zone, the "Myaso-Molochne Produkty" concern, processing and industrial enterprises, and woodworking industries. On the sidelines of the forum, the leadership of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee and the People's Government of Shandong Province signed an agreement on friendship and comprehensive cooperation, a decision was made on the preparation and implementation of a cooperation roadmap, and the most promising areas for this were identified.
Business contacts with Shandong Province, one of the top three leading regions in China, have been developing for the Vitebsk region since the signing of the first memorandum of cooperation in 2006. The cities of Vitebsk and Jinan, Novopolotsk and Weihai, Orsha and Qingdao interact with each other.
In January-August, the trade turnover of the Vitebsk region with the provinces of China amounted to $69.6 million, with exports reaching $13.5 million, which is 2.1 times higher than the figure for the same period in 2018.
