An armored personnel carrier appeared in the Vitebsk military-patriotic education park
July 2, Vitebsk / Sergey Kochetov - BELTA /. The first exhibit, a BTR-60PB armored personnel carrier, appeared today in the Vitebsk city park for military-patriotic education. The combat vehicle, manufactured in 1959 and transferred to Vitebsk by the Ministry of Defense, arrived from a military unit stationed in the Minsk region, the regional museum of Hero of the Soviet Union Minay Shmyrev told a BELTA correspondent.
A total of eight units of equipment are planned to be installed in the park. This is stipulated by the park reconstruction project, as a result of which the museum's exhibition and the park for military-patriotic education will form a single memorial complex dedicated to the partisan movement. The Ministry of Defense will transfer part of the military equipment to the city for storage. In addition to the armored personnel carrier, three 76 mm caliber "ZiS-3" divisional guns (1942 model) and an 80 mm caliber D-44 anti-tank divisional gun (1945 model) will be installed on specially equipped sites in the park area of the Shmyrev museum. The Vitebsk Aeroclub named after A. Gorovets DOSAAF will also contribute to the formation of the future open-air exhibition by providing a Mi-2 multi-purpose helicopter manufactured in 1961. Another part of the exhibits - a 100 mm "MT-12" gun and a 120 mm caliber mortar - are already stored at a site near the Shmyrev museum.
The park reconstruction project also includes the organization of sports grounds. The Belarusian Football Federation has transferred modern artificial turf for a football field to the city, and a basketball court will also appear in the park. Work is underway to develop the service infrastructure of the park complex to make one of the central city parks a favorite place for family recreation. Vitebsk residents and city guests will be able to visit the partially renovated park and museum complex during the celebration of the 65th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus. -0-
