Abandoned cars will soon disappear from the streets of Vitebsk
December 15, Vitebsk / Olga Bogacheva - BELTA /. Abandoned cars will soon disappear from the streets of Vitebsk, Yuri Demidovich, head of the environmental supervision department of the traffic police department of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, told a BELTA correspondent.
The problem of abandoned vehicles has become particularly acute in the regional center in recent years with the increase in the number of personal vehicles of citizens and the resulting shortage of parking spaces in courtyards and parking lots. One of the solutions to the problem was the elimination of abandoned cars, the appearance of which eloquently emphasizes their status: flat tires sunk into the ground, rusty body, broken windows, absence of license plates.
In total, during the patrol of city streets and courtyards by traffic police officers, as well as based on calls from residents, about 300 such vehicles were discovered. Notices have been sent to their owners. More than half of the car enthusiasts have already responded: some have moved their cars to garages, some have handed them in for scrap metal. Cars whose owners have not yet been identified are being transported to a special free parking lot on Dovator Street.
The traffic police department is working on solving the problem of abandoned cars together with the housing and communal services department of the Vitebsk City Executive Committee. "It is possible that in the near future this issue will be addressed more actively in other cities and district centers of the region," noted Yuri Demidov. -0-
