Armored personnel carriers and wartime artillery will appear in the park of the Vitebsk Museum of Hero of the Soviet Union M. Shmyrev
June 24, Vitebsk / Sergey Kotovets - BELTA /. Eight units of military equipment will be installed in the park of the Vitebsk regional museum of Hero of the Soviet Union M.F. Shmyrev, Denis Glutkin, head of the department for defense mobilization work and youth affairs of the city executive committee, told a BELTA correspondent.
The appearance of military equipment is envisaged by the park reconstruction project, as a result of which the museum and park exposition will represent a single memorial complex dedicated to the partisan movement. The Ministry of Defense will transfer part of the military equipment to the city for storage. The day before, it is planned to deliver a BTR-60PB sample of 1959 from a military unit stationed in Slutsk to the regional center. In addition, three divisional guns "ZiS-3" caliber 76 mm (sample of 1942), an anti-tank divisional gun D-44 caliber 80 mm (sample of 1945), also transferred by the military department, will be installed on specially equipped sites in the park area of the Shmyrev museum. The Vitebsk aeroclub named after A. Gorovets DOSAAF will also contribute to the formation of the future open-air exhibition by providing a multipurpose helicopter Mi-2 manufactured in 1961. Another part of the exhibits - a 100-mm gun "MT-12" and a 120-mm caliber mortar - are already stored on the site near the Shmyrev museum.
The park reconstruction project also provides for the organization of sports grounds. The Belarusian Football Federation has transferred modern artificial turf for the football field to the city, and a basketball court will also appear in the park, Denis Glutkin added. Work is underway to develop the service infrastructure of the park complex in order to make one of the central parks of the city a favorite place for family recreation. Vitebsk residents and guests of Vitebsk will be able to visit the partially updated park and museum complex already during the celebration of the 65th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus. -0-
