About 703,000 residents of the Vitebsk region have received a booster vaccination against COVID-19

Almost 73% of the residents of the Vitebsk region have completed the full course of coronavirus vaccination, as reported by the Vitebsk Regional Center for Hygiene, Epidemiology, and Public Health (VOGCEiOZ).

About 785,000 residents of the Vitebsk region are fully vaccinated against COVID-19, which is 72.9% of the population of the northern region. "The first booster vaccination is carried out six months after completing the full course of coronavirus vaccination, and the subsequent one - another six months later. In our region, about 703,000 people have completed the first course, or 91% of those vaccinated against COVID-19, and about 110,000 citizens have received the second booster," said Victoria Kireychuk, head of the VOGCEiOZ Immunoprophylaxis Department.

She noted that during the winter holidays, there was a slight decrease in acute respiratory viral infections among schoolchildren. Their COVID-19 vaccination also continues. In total, about 25,000 children aged 5 to 17 years have been vaccinated against coronavirus in the region.

"The epidemic season continues. The circulation of coronavirus, influenza viruses, and non-influenza etiologies remains relevant. Considering this fact, it is important to remember the ongoing vaccination against COVID-19, especially for elderly citizens, those with chronic diseases, etc. To maintain health, it is also important to observe non-specific preventive measures: maintain a safe distance in crowded places if possible or wear a protective mask, adhere to respiratory etiquette, etc. If symptoms of illness appear, it is important not to endanger your health and seek medical help in a timely manner," added Victoria Kireychuk.

Also, the head of the immunization department emphasized that the necessary conditions for disease prevention are maintained at the facilities in the region: cleaning and disinfection of premises, ventilation regimes are observed, and hand sanitizers are available, etc. Medical workers continue to conduct explanatory work among the population on the need to observe all preventive measures.
