A bookkeeper from Polotsk arbitrarily increased her salary and that of her acquaintances, causing Br62 million in damages to the state.

The chief accountant of the Polotsk production unit of one of the enterprises in Glubokoye increased the accrued salaries of herself, relatives, and acquaintances several times, causing damage to the state in the amount of Br62 million. The facts of abuse of official position were revealed during a joint inspection by the Polotsk inter-district committee of the State Control Committee of the Vitebsk region and the Department for Combating Economic Crimes of the Polotsk District Department of Internal Affairs, the Vitebsk Regional State Control Committee informed a BELTA correspondent.

Employees of the inter-district committee and the Department for Combating Economic Crimes established that the chief accountant of the unit transferred funds to the card accounts of a certain circle of individuals in an amount exceeding the accrued salary by 3-4 times. For example, the unit's mechanic, thanks to the accountant's actions, received vacation pay in the amount of Br18 million, while no order for his vacation was issued, and his average monthly salary was Br850 thousand. The mechanic resigned, and the overpaid amount was not reimbursed to the enterprise. The chief accountant also took care of her son, increasing his accrued salary, after which he resigned from the enterprise and did not reimburse the excess in the amount of Br1.9 million. The enterprising lady, using her official position, stole funds in the amount of Br2.3 million by transferring them to her common-law husband and an acquaintance under the guise of their due wages, although neither of them worked at the enterprise.

Law enforcement agencies have also established other facts of unjustified transfer of funds to employees of the enterprise. The total amount of damage according to the inspection report was Br62 million. The guilty parties reimbursed the damage to the enterprise in the amount of Br39 million. Based on the results of the inspection, 6 criminal cases have been initiated against the former chief accountant by the Polotsk District Department of Internal Affairs. 32 employees of the enterprise have been brought to disciplinary responsibility.-0-
