The Belarusian Railway has changed the period for returning travel documents for international routes in case of passenger's lateness for a train from 3 to 1 hour, BELTA was informed by the BZhD press service.
"From January 1 of this year, in case of a passenger's lateness for an international train, the cost of the travel document (its ticket part) can be refunded only within 1 hour after the train's departure. Previously, the ticket cost was refunded if lateness was reported to the ticket office within 3 hours," the BZhD press service informed.
From January 1 of this year, changes have been made to the rules for transporting domestic animals. Thus, in international traffic, the transportation of dogs, cats, and birds is allowed only in a separate compartment of a compartment carriage, and no more than two animals can be transported. In this case, the passenger must pay the fare for transporting animals at the full rate based on the number of unoccupied seats in the compartment. If the carrier cannot provide a separate compartment for transporting animals, such transportation is not allowed.
Domestic animals (dogs, cats, birds) must be placed in boxes, baskets, cages and must be freely accommodated in the places designated for hand luggage. Dogs not placed in special containers must have a muzzle and a leash.
The passenger bears full responsibility for violating the sanitary and hygienic requirements for the animals and birds being transported and is obliged to ensure proper cleaning of the carriage. At the same time, blind passengers are allowed to carry guide dogs in general and reserved seat carriages without additional payment. When transporting guide dogs in the same compartment of a compartment carriage, the passenger must pay for the trip at the full rate based on the number of unoccupied seats in the compartment.
The changes have been put into effect in accordance with the new version of Appendix 1 to the SMPS "Agreement on International Passenger Traffic (SMPS) taking into account the specifics of applying its individual norms in the member states of the Commonwealth of Independent States, Georgia, the Republic of Latvia, the Republic of Lithuania, the Republic of Estonia". The new version was adopted at the 61st meeting of the Council of Railway Transport of the CIS countries, held in October 2014 in Baku.
