RZD commissioned the first phase of a modern automatic block system on the Vitebsk-Polotsk section

May 8, Minsk / Olga Belyavskaya - BELTA /. The Belarusian Railway has commissioned the first phase of a modern automatic block system on the Vitebsk-Polotsk section, the BZD press service informed a BELTA correspondent. "The first phase of an automatic block system using microprocessor technologies has been commissioned on the Vitebsk-Polotsk section," the press service said. "A similar automatic block system was first commissioned last year on the Ksty-Novopolotsk section." Unlike relay automatic block systems, it has broader functional capabilities for interval train traffic control. During the project implementation, the interlocking and automatic block devices at the stations and sections of the Chepino-Yazvino section were replaced. Construction and installation, as well as commissioning works for the second and third phases of the automatic block system on the Vitebsk-Polotsk section are currently underway. The result of the work will be the complete replacement of outdated automatic block and electric interlocking devices with modern equipment. This will allow for the updating and modernization of signaling and communication devices on the Vitebsk-Polotsk section, which is one of the busiest sections on the Belarusian Railway. The interlocking system provides control of switches and signals and is designed to manage train traffic and shunting operations at a station. The implementation of automatic block and electric interlocking devices using microprocessor technologies is one of the priority areas of the BZD's work aimed at ensuring train traffic safety and improving the efficiency of the transportation process management. -0-
