RZD has completed the replacement of automatic blocking devices with modern systems on the Vitebsk-Polotsk section
The Belarusian Railway has implemented another complex of electronic automatic block and electric interlocking devices using microprocessor technologies on the Vitebsk-Polotsk section. This was reported to BELTA by the press service of Belarusian Railway.
New electric interlocking devices have been installed at the Goryany, Fomino, and Sosnitsa stations, and the adjacent sections are equipped with modern electronic automatic block systems with centralized equipment placement. "This is the third commissioning complex on the Vitebsk-Polotsk section, which is one of the most heavily loaded on the railway. Similar automatic block systems were used on the Ksty-Novopolotsk and Vitebsk-Yazvino sections," the press service noted.
Thus, the previous automatic block and electric interlocking devices on this section of the railway have been completely replaced by modern systems based on microprocessor components. "Unlike relay-based automatic block and electric interlocking systems, the new systems are less energy-intensive and have expanded functional capabilities for interval train traffic control," specialists explained.
Another important technological feature is the centralized placement of equipment. This increases its reliability, reduces recovery time in case of failures, and also allows for the implementation of more complex and efficient automatic block operating algorithms.
Belarusian Railway noted that the implementation of automatic block and electric interlocking devices is one of the priority areas for the development of the Belarusian railway, as the application of the latest technologies ensures train traffic safety and increases the efficiency of managing the transportation process.
