The Chashniki and Postavy districts were the first in the Vitebsk region to begin sowing

Vitebsk region has started the selective sowing of early grain crops, Chairman of the Committee for Agriculture and Food of the Regional Executive Committee Ivan Fedorov announced today at a meeting on the development of the region's agro-industrial complex.

Yesterday, sowers went out to the fields of Chashniki and Postavy districts. Farms in a third of the region's districts have begun spring plowing and soil preparation for sowing spring crops. The Chairman of the Regional Committee for Agriculture and Food assured that the region is fully prepared for the organized and high-quality conduct of spring field work. The region's farms have received a sufficient amount of mineral fertilizers, there is fuel, and almost all equipment is ready. The only factor holding back the agrarians is the weather. The total sown area of the region this year will be 796 thousand hectares, of which 50% is planned to be sown with grain crops (about 400 thousand hectares), including 242 thousand hectares in spring.
