«Man of the Year of Vitebsk Region»: Awards Found Their Heroes
It has become a good tradition at the beginning of the year to honor the best workers of the region who have achieved significant results based on the work of the past 12 months. Each district nominates its candidates for the title "Person of the Year of Vitebsk Region", from whom the most worthy are chosen. They became the main heroes of the celebration. in the concert hall "Vitebsk", where the award ceremony took place.
Among the laureates are representatives of various professions and fields of activity: industry, agro-industrial complex, social sphere, construction, transport, law enforcement agencies, and others. These people, with their innovative approach and creative work, ensure the dynamic socio-economic development of the region and the entire republic.
As noted by the Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee Alexander Kosinets, who spoke before the audience, in 2013, we managed to ensure the highest investment attraction to the economy in recent years: 129% compared to the позапрошлого year. In monetary terms, this is 21 trillion rubles. Exports grew, and a lot of innovative products in demand were created. Enterprises in the region have the lowest inventory levels compared to other regions. The ratio of the total accounts payable of all organizations, enterprises, and institutions of the Vitebsk region to revenue as of January 1, 2014, was 37.6%. This indicator is also the best in the republic.
Last year, the modernization of the Verkhnedvinsk butter and cheese factory was completed, a new Braslav cheese factory was built, the Postavy dairy plant was updated, and the reconstruction of the Orsha flax mill is ongoing.
Much has been done in the agro-industrial complex, new farms have been erected, and the development of the rural economy has been ensured. Housing was built, new families were created, and the demographic situation improved.
Alexander Kosinets emphasized that behind these achievements are specific people – initiative-taking, highly intelligent individuals who set an example for others with their work.
Among those who received the honorary title "Person of the Year of Vitebsk Region" is the director of OJSC "Orsha Instrument Plant" Valery Lutai. The enterprise specializes in the production of tools for mechanical engineering. This industry is going through difficult times worldwide, but the Orsha plant managed to reorient itself in time to produce high-tech, in-demand products.
– Understanding the problems of mechanical engineering, we focused on diversifying markets, which allowed us to successfully complete the year in terms of both production volumes and sales. And the economy and financial situation at the enterprise affected wages, which increased by one and a half times over the year, – shared Valery Lutai about the successes.
The creation of the leather and footwear holding company under the brand name "Marko" was a significant event of last year, believes the General Director of the management company Nikolai Martynov, who also became a laureate in the nomination "Industry".
– Entrepreneurs do a lot to boost the country's economy, and this is noticed at the highest level. Confirmation of this is the trust of the President, who signed a decree on the creation of a holding company based on a non-state-owned enterprise. And I consider the current award as recognition of the contribution of the entrepreneurial sector to the development of the region, – said Nikolai Martynov.

Man of the Year" in the agro-industrial complex was the director of OJSC "Rudakovo" of Vitebsk district Mikhail Pinchuk. Last year, the enterprise fulfilled and overfulfilled all production indicators. The range of products of the greenhouse complex has been expanded; today, not only cucumbers and tomatoes from "Rudakovo", but also lettuce, arugula, basil, and dill are known and in demand. Vegetables are also in demand in the Russian market; last year, more than half of the grown products were sold to our neighbors.Much can be said about everyone who came on stage. All of them, both managers of various ranks and ordinary workers, are truly worthy people. As the head of the region emphasized, human capital is the most valuable, and it must be protected and multiplied.
Summarizing the past year, Alexander Kosinets drew attention to the tasks set for the region. 2014 is a special year. We will celebrate the 70th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders. We must do this with dignity. This year has been declared the Year of Hospitality. Much has been done in the Vitebsk region to put our native land in order, so we are not ashamed to welcome guests. The Dvina region will flourish when there are such people in the country!
