Several producers from the Vitebsk region have been recognized as champions of taste
The results of the autumn 2014 season of the popular tasting competition "Champion of Taste", which was held as part of the 20th International Specialized Wholesale Exhibition-Fair "Prodexpo-2014". It is gratifying to note that among the prize-winners there are many products from enterprises of the Dvina region. This is despite the fact that reaching the finals is a great achievement in itself. After all, food products, purchased from retail outlets and coded by numbers, are admitted to the tasting by a strict expert jury.
Professionals from science, production, trade, and public catering evaluate the taste, aroma, consistency, as well as the appearance and composition of the products on a 5-point scale. Only the best of the best withstand such a rigorous selection. Their further fate is determined by consumers who taste the coded products and vote for the one sample they deem most worthy. The results of the expert and public voting are summed up. The best participating products receive the Grand Prix, win prizes, or are awarded a finalist diploma.
Among the dairy producers of the Privdvinye region, whose products participated in the autumn season tasting, OJSC "Moloko" of Vitebsk became the undisputed leader in the number of prize-winning places. The jury and consumers noted the taste qualities of yogurt, curdled milk, kefir, cottage cheese, and smoked cheese. Several product names from the Verkhnedvinsk butter and cheese factory also ended up on the podium. Milk from the Glubokoye dairy and canned goods plant won 1st place. The Postavy dairy plant managed to take the "Silver" in the "Russian-type cheeses" nomination. OJSC "Orshasyrzavod" also received a finalist diploma.
In the meat tasting, our region was represented only by products from the Vitebsk meat processing plant. The enterprise added "gold", "silver", and "bronze" to its list of achievements.
The competition
"Champion of Taste" is held three times a year. Based on the year's results, the "golden" dozen enterprises that have received the most first places for their products are determined. They are awarded the "Competition Statuette". In 2014, the top 12 most decorated manufacturers included two from the Vitebsk region – OJSC "Moloko" of Vitebsk and "Glubokoe Dairy and Canned Goods Plant". Keep it up!Elena Sys, "Vitebskiye Vesti"
