In a week – the opening of the «Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk»

If streets are being repaired in Vitebsk and it has started raining, it means the "Slavianski Bazaar" will open soon. And this time, "folk omens" are working. The grand opening of the XXIX International Festival of Arts will take place in exactly one week – on July 16.

More than a hundred facilities have already been repaired in the city. Curbs have been replaced on Lenina Street, a new LED screen has been installed, and tiles have been laid on the pedestrian part of Svobody Square, and almost 800 thousand flowers have been planted...

On the main stage, in the Summer Amphitheater, the installation of light and sound equipment is underway, which was brought from Minsk on ten trucks. Here I met the technical director of the "Slavianski Bazaar", Alexey Odarenko, who is bringing to life the ideas of the stage designer, the artist of the "Vitebsk" Culture Center, Tatiana Kuleshova:

— The stage on which the performers appear will not be flat this time. It will turn into a multi-level platform with the inclusion of hydraulic lifts. They will "carry" artists up and down. The floor will turn into a screen that displays media content combined with the surrounding picture. Add to this five computerized structures with lighting fixtures and small screens, which will descend from the ceiling on kinetic high-speed winches... The show will be all-encompassing!

In such unusual decorations, the program "Live Music of Cinema" by the "Fonograf-Sympho-Jazz" orchestra under the direction of Sergey Zhilin will take place. This concert will be held on the Day of the Union State at the festival – on July 17. Also, participants of the International Pop Song Performers Competition "Vitebsk-2020" will compete in the Summer Amphitheater. But for vocalists who will come to the International Children's Music Competition, a stage will be erected near the "Vitebsk" Concert Hall. Due to the complex epidemiological situation, it was specifically moved outdoors. The light, sound, and picture here, assures the technical service, are being installed in unison with the Summer Amphitheater. Therefore, the children's competition will be just as bright and festive. Concerts by young Belarusian musicians, students of the Vitebsk "School of Stars," will be held constantly on the site near the "Vitebsk" Concert Hall, and films will be shown.

Another venue will be set up on Pushkin Square. It will be made available to the participants of the street art festival "Na Semi Vetrakh" (In the Seven Winds) – artists, performers, musicians, dancers, poets, actors. Thus, "Slavianski Bazaar" confirms its intention to become the most grandiose open-air festival of this summer in Europe.

The pandemic has not been forgotten in Vitebsk. However, the peak of the incidence has passed, and the city is returning to normal life. This includes hotels. 14 facilities have been renovated, modernized, and are ready to provide 2000 places for guests of "Slavianski Bazaar". By the way, around-the-clock medical stations will be set up where participants and guests will stay. These stations will be equipped with antiseptics, disinfectants, gloves, masks, and sets of protective clothing for the possible reception of patients with fever and signs of COVID-19. Such precautionary measures are essential. But at the same time, traditional fairs such as "Small Business in Festival Vitebsk", "Zadzvinski Kirmaš" (Zadzvinski Fair), and the artists' exhibition "Vitebsk Vernissage" will be operating in the city. Bus tours to the Repin Estate Museum "Zdravnevo" will be organized, and excursion trolleys and trams will run around the city.

The festival venues are awaiting their audiences. The directorate of "Slavianski Bazaar" reminds that for legal entities purchasing tickets, a progressive discount of 5, 10, and 15 percent is available depending on the number of tickets bought.
