Black caviar from Belarusian sturgeons may appear on store shelves as early as 2012
April 1, Novolukoml / Diana Kurilo - BELTA /. The "Rybkhoz" "Novolukomlsky" unit of RUP "Chashnikskaya PSK melivodkhoz" may supply at least 300 kg of black sturgeon caviar to Belarusian stores in 2012, the enterprise director Yegor Nabedo told a BELTA correspondent.
Breeding valuable fish species has become one of the main activities of the fish farming unit. Today, the largest broodstock of valuable fish species in the republic has been created here. In 2009, 35.5 tons of sturgeon broodstock and commercial fish, 35.8 tons of trout, and 4.8 tons of catfish were raised.
At the same time, the production of these fish remains unprofitable and low-profit. According to the director, the situation can be improved by increasing production, creating a distribution network, and building a fish processing unit. The commissioning of the processing plant will allow for the annual production of 34 tons of fresh fish fillet, about 100 tons of dried and cold-smoked fish. Br3.8 billion is required for the implementation of this project.
By the order of the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee Alexander Kosinets, who familiarized himself with the work of the fish farming unit today, a development program for the "Novolukomlsky" fish farm will be developed, and a system of financial support for fish production will be provided. -0-
