The blueberry king and queen will be chosen at the berry championship in the Polotsk region
The Blueberry King and Queen will be chosen at the berry championship in Polotsk district on July 19, as reported to a BELTA correspondent by the department of ideological work, culture and youth affairs of the Polotsk District Executive Committee.
Over 120 teams representing educational institutions, culture, healthcare, industrial and trade enterprises, and trade union organizations of the district have already declared their intention to participate in the "Polotsk Blueberry-2014" berry competition. Early on Saturday morning, blueberry enthusiasts will head to the forests. The competition will start simultaneously in the Polotovskoye, Azinskoye, Voronichskoye, Vetrinskoye, Gomelskoye, and Malositnyanskoye village councils.
After filling their baskets with the healing berry, contestants will surrender to the mercy of the jury. An expert council will determine the best teams, which will continue the competition by participating in creative contests. The championship results will be announced on the central square of Polotsk, where an official ceremony of awarding the honorary titles of "Blueberry King" and "Blueberry Queen" with the presentation of special certificates is also planned.
Residents of Polotsk and guests of the festival will be able to participate in master classes, various contests, tasting exhibitions, interactive games, visit exhibitions and presentations, get consultations from herbalists, and taste berry kvass (a total of 11 themed areas will be organized).
The blueberry festival will be held in the district for the fourth time.
