The number of lawsuits against individuals for tax collection in the Vitebsk region has nearly halved in January-March
May 11, Vitebsk / Sergey Kochetov - BELTA /. In the courts of the Vitebsk region, the number of claims by tax authorities against individuals for the recovery of property taxes in January-March decreased by almost half compared to the same period in 2009, the press center of the Ministry of Taxes and Duties Inspectorate for the Vitebsk region informed a BELTA correspondent.
In total, courts of general jurisdiction considered slightly more than 800 such claims for a total amount of over Br108 million. The inspectorate explains the almost twofold decrease in the number of claims against individual taxpayers by an increase in tax discipline and a growth in the share of property taxes voluntarily paid by citizens as a result of the information and explanatory campaign conducted by the tax authorities among the population. In addition, tax inspectorates actively used the procedure for out-of-court settlement of cases related to ensuring budget revenues.
According to data for the first quarter, the number of claims by the region's tax inspectorates against business entities decreased by 13%, while the amount of claims increased by almost a third compared to the same period last year. The economic court considered 60 cases on claims by tax authorities, of which almost 82% were related to the recovery of budget payments from taxpayers' property. The total amount of claims amounted to over Br2.2 billion. All claims by tax authorities were fully satisfied by the economic court. -0-
