The number of first-graders in the Vitebsk region will increase by 350-400 people in the new academic year

"The number of children entering the first grades of schools in the region is growing every year. In the new academic year, we are preparing to admit about 12 thousand first-graders. Compared to last year, there will be about 350-400 more of them. The exact figures will be known in early September," said Ivan Shchurok, head of the education department of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee.

As for teaching staff, about 450 young specialists have joined their ranks. "In general, almost all issues with subject teachers have been resolved in the region; we have enough teachers of mathematics and foreign languages, which could not be said before. Preschool institutions in the cities of Vitebsk, Orsha, Polotsk, Novopolotsk are staffed with educators, but it has not yet been possible to fully solve the shortage of such specialists in rural areas," stated Ivan Shchurok.
