What concerns Polotsk residents, or How does the public reception office in Polotsk work?
Since November 12, twice a week, on Tuesdays and Thursdays, deputies of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus, members of the Council of the Republic, representatives of the executive authorities, the district deputy corps, public organizations and trade unions are on duty at the public reception, communicating with concerned residents of Polotsk region.
The public reception is open on the basis of the Polotsk District Center for Children and Youth. Citizens can also leave their proposals by calling the phone number during duty hours.
As noted by Irina Dyominova, Head of the Department of Ideological Work and Youth Affairs of the Polotsk District Executive Committee, various appeals are received. For example, residents of one of the microdistricts, seeing that their deputy would be on duty at the public reception according to the schedule, came to discuss with him the details of the planned housing development, namely, they proposed to include the existing grove of 200 birch trees in the plan in order to preserve it. The appeal has been sent to the Department of Architecture and Construction of the District Executive Committee. Thus, issues of a local nature are considered at the local level, and global issues, significant for the country as a whole, are sent to the main department of ideological work and youth affairs of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee. For example, an appeal to amend the Code of Marriage and Family of the Republic of Belarus, which would provide for a reduction in parental leave for childcare to 2 years.
— As practice shows, public reception offices are an effective form of working with the population, an efficient way for citizens to interact with government bodies, — believes Irina Dyominova. — People can count on their proposals and initiatives being heard, and on receiving assistance in resolving problematic issues. A section "Public Reception Office" has been created on the website of the Polotsk District Executive Committee, which contains the work schedule and information about the receptions held.
