To prevent disaster…
Children's fascination with fire and playing with matches is well-known. Psychologists prove that children are aware of the dangers of these games; they distinguish between "good" and "evil" fire. The most terrible thing is that children die due to the fault of adults, often the closest and dearest people – their parents!
To help children reinforce this knowledge, warn them of danger, and remind parents of their responsibility for their children. The republican preventive campaign "Focus on Children!" has been launched in the city of Vitebsk.
As part of this campaign, signs "For unattended children" have appeared on fire detectors in large shopping centers. Also, employees of the Vitebsk City Department for Emergency Situations and activists of the Belarusian Youth Public Association of Rescuers and Firefighters of Educational Institution "Gymnasium No. 1" are conducting explanatory talks with parents, reminding them of their responsibility for their children, and sharing examples of child fatalities in fires when they were left unattended. Children are also not overlooked; they are given visual materials on fire safety, and at the same time, they are reminded of the rules of conduct at school and safety measures. This campaign does not end here, but employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations hope that many parents will think about the safety of their children.
