A tribute to trading scales was paid in Polotsk

July 27, Vitebsk / Diana Kurilo - BELTA /. A tribute to trade scales was paid in Polotsk. The first monument to an indispensable attribute of trade has appeared in Polotsk, the first deputy chairman of the Polotsk City Executive Committee and the author of the park sculpture idea, Sergey Kuksov, told a BELTA correspondent. The cast sculpture was installed in a new residential area on the site near the "Friedrichshafen" store. A bag, presumably with some groceries, is on one scale pan, and weights are on the other. True, if you look closely, you can see that the weights are hollowed out, and a magnet is attached to the pan with groceries. Young people, familiar with electronic scales, are unlikely to understand these subtleties, but those who remember what Soviet trade was like will understand the essence of these tricks. As Sergey Kuksov noted, the ironic sculpture does not pay tribute to dishonest trade, but rather laughs at it, because it is not for nothing that the Polotsk scales are adorned with the phrase "know the measure". The monument project was developed by local artists and architects, and the casting was done at the Polotsk enterprise "Technolit". The project was financed by the city's trade enterprises. The scale sculpture has every reason to be ranked alongside such unique monuments as the sign of the letter "Ў neskladovaye", the sign "Geographical Center of Europe", which have long been not only decorations of the parks of the ancient city, but also its tourist highlight. -0-
