Making balanced and clear promises. Sergey Levkovich held a reception for citizens in Beshenkovichi

Questions of housing acquisition and construction, housing and communal services, organization of retail trade, and others were considered during a direct telephone line and an on-site personal reception of citizens in Beshenkovichi on January 30 by Presidential Aide - Inspector for the Vitebsk Region Sergey Levkovich, Belta correspondent reports.

A resident of Beshenkovichi contacted the direct telephone line with a question about the additional organization of retail trade. In particular, she explained that there is no department store in the town where the population could buy clothes and shoes. The Presidential Aide inquired about the availability of other retail outlets in the settlement. Such goods can be purchased by local residents mainly in private retail outlets, explained the Chairman of the District Executive Committee Galina Unukovich. At the same time, according to her, there are premises available for rent in the town for opening new stores if necessary. Sergey Levkovich instructed the district leadership to study in more detail how necessary additional retail outlets are for Beshenkovichi.
A resident of the agro-town of Drozdzy came to the first on-site personal reception of citizens, which Sergey Levkovich held in his capacity as Presidential Aide - Inspector for the region. The mother of many children and her husband are raising four children in a rented private house. According to the woman, the housing is unfit for habitation, but there is no official documentary confirmation of this yet. The family would like to take advantage of the opportunities provided by Presidential Decree No. 13 of January 6, 2012, and purchase secondary housing in Beshenkovichi, but they were denied because they need to be registered in the town. Sergey Levkovich instructed to sort out the situation, consider other options for registration as needing to improve housing conditions, and find out if an alternative house can be offered in Drozdzy. The condition of the house where the family currently lives will be assessed separately.

A resident of Beshenkovichi asked for help in resolving the issue of reimbursement of funds. The man explained that he is raising seven children (the eldest is already serving in the army, the daughter is studying in college, the others live with their parents), and for comfoa family some time ago planned to build a house using credit resources. A father of many children encountered a dishonest contracting organization, and as a result, the construction was frozen. The case went to court, where a decision was made in favor of the man, but the company, which had already gone bankrupt, never paid the funds. The regional inspector took the issue under control.
Other residents of the town and district appealed to the President's aide with questions about the major overhaul of an apartment building, the life support of the Verkhovye agro-town, and others. "A small district, but with its own problems. It cannot be said that they are new to us. Housing and communal services issues are relevant not only in the Beshenkovichi district, and today's reception is a clear confirmation that citizens are concerned about the condition of the housing stock. Unfortunately, we cannot decide within one reception that major repairs will begin tomorrow. There are certain rules for the work of local authorities on major housing repairs, everything depends on the financing possibilities. And my main requirement to the leadership of the district executive committees is to give people balanced and understandable promises," said Sergey Levkovich.

He added that it is important to understand whether the house is subject to major repairs (since such questions predominated today), and to set priorities correctly based on capabilities. In addition, it is important to correctly inform people about the sequence of work. "The most important thing is to keep the promises that were made. Today there is also such an example, when promises of major repairs of a house were made about five years ago, and the major repairs were supposed to be completed last year. We did not do this - this is unacceptable, in my opinion," emphasized the President's aide.
Even before the direct phone line and citizens' reception began, Galina Unukovich noted that last year the number of appeals from local residents to the district executive committee increased, while the number of appeals to higher authorities decreased. People's issues are being resolved locally, with each specific situation being analyzed.

The development of the district as a whole was also discussed.Assistant to the President inquired about plans for the repair of facilities, institutions, and roads, the situation in agriculture, education, and healthcare.

In the near future, Sergey Levkovich will hold a series of on-site receptions of citizens to study in detail what concerns the residents of each district of the Vitebsk region. He will travel to Polotsk with a similar visit on February 8.
