"Dazhynki" give a boost to the development of regions in both landscaping and agriculture - Nikolai Sherstnev

Holding the holiday of rural workers in district centers gives an impetus to the development of settlements, not only transforming cities, but also improving indicators in the agro-industrial complex. This opinion was expressed by the chairman of the regional executive committee, Nikolai Sherstnev, during an on-site meeting on the preparation for the regional "Dazhynki-2021" in Shumilino.

"It is difficult to accumulate a large volume of funds and construction work in a specific district center, and "Dazhynki" helps to do this. A lot of work has been done in Shumilino, the town is being transformed, but the tasks of the district, which is hosting the relay of the rural workers' holiday this year, include improving indicators in crop production and animal husbandry. The Shumilino district will not perform worse than last year, the harvest will be higher, although the agro-industrial complex, for objective reasons, is not among the leaders in the region," noted Nikolai Sherstnev.

More than 70% of the preparatory work for the "Dazhynki-2021" festival in Shumilino has already been completed, with many facilities in the final stages of renovation, said Viktor Gutorov, Chairman of the Shumilino District Executive Committee. Among these facilities is the central stadium. Since the 1970s, almost no changes have been made to it, and now it will become a worthy sports complex and a base for holding competitions, including those of national level. New stands with 200 seats, an updated hockey rink, and a football field will appear here. A workout area and an area with outdoor exercise equipment have already been installed on the territory of the main district sports arena, and artificial turf has been laid on the running track. Together with the district youth sports school and the physical culture and recreation complex located nearby, this facility will contribute to the development not only of Greco-Roman wrestling and volleyball cultivated in Shumilino, but also of football. To accommodate teams that can come for high-level competitions, the district center has a hotel and a new one with about 70 rooms is under construction. In the future, the existing residential premises of the district boarding school, which is closing this year, will also be used, and schoolchildren will study in two schools in Shumilino. There is a good material base at Secondary School No. 1, where the mobile headquarters visited today. Renovation work is also underway here. However, the second school in the district center will need more attention so that children can receive education in comfortable conditions. It requires renovation and better equipment.

Also, the cash settlement center (CSC) of the district gas service is in the final stage of construction. This facility was built from scratch, and all work on it is scheduled to be completed by September 10. The first working day is planned to begin on September 12, and the grand opening of the CSC will take place during the "Dazhynki" festival.

The appearance of the central park will significantly change. Work is currently underway on the construction of a heroes' alley, a recreation area with a fountain, a children's town, and a workout area. In parallel, a cafe is being built to replace the former one. The catering facility is being erected by a local entrepreneur. A new district museum will open on the territory adjacent to the park zone: the former tax inspection building will be reconstructed into a cultural institution that requires more spacious exhibition areas.

"Everything that is done in district centers for "Dazhynki" remains here for many years. Schools, kindergartens, cultural institutions, improvement of parks and alleys, renovated streets and roads. All this is done to bring the standard of living in district centers closer to urban ones and to retain young people and families in promising settlements," Nikolai Sherstnev summed up.
