"Dazhynki" in Horadok will be held on September 19-20

The Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee has approved the dates for the regional festival of rural workers "Dazhynki-2014" and the draft of its main events. They will be held on September 19-20 in Gorodok.

According to Galina Barkevich, chief specialist of the main department of ideological work, culture and youth affairs of the regional executive committee, "Dazhynki" will begin with a festive procession of rural workers. Then, awards will be presented to the heroes of the grain fields on Lenin Square. Famous artists will come to congratulate the grain growers. After their performance, fireworks will adorn the evening sky over Gorodok.

The two days of the festival will be remembered by its participants and guests with various events. Among them are exhibitions of agricultural products, artisans, the opening ceremony of a sculptural composition based on the poem "Taras on Parnassus", sports competitions, and various tastings.

Among the new projects are the presentation of brands of districts and cities of the region: "Cranes and Cranberries" - from Miory district, "Milk Rivers" - from Verkhnedvinsk region, "Strawberry Courtyard" - from Liozno district. Other interesting events await participants and guests.

How is the preparation of facilities for "Dazhynki" going? We asked Fyodor Bastov, Deputy Chairman of the Gorodok District Executive Committee, about this:

- If a month ago Gorodok resembled a continuous construction site, today the outlines of restored, built, and renovated facilities are emerging.

Lenin Square has been transformed with the renovated "Rodina" cinema. The main focus today is on social facilities - two secondary schools, three kindergartens, the bus station, the "Raubichi" hotel, the sports and recreation complex, the art school, and the water tower.

Already on September 1, many of the listed facilities will be commissioned. Let's not forget about the major repairs of the housing stock - there are 45 such houses, and we will carry out current repairs on another 36 houses.

In total, about 200 facilities are to be commissioned for "Dozhinki". Today, about 2,000 people from one hundred organizations of the district and the region are working in two shifts at many of them. 70-80 percent of all work has already been completed. For this purpose, almost all construction organizations of the region, utility workers, landscapers, and other specialists are involved.
