A delegation from South Korea arrived in Vitebsk to exchange experience in the development of learning cities

Vitebsk is the first and so far the only city in Belarus to join the Global Network of Learning Cities. In each of these cities, measures are taken to foster a culture of lifelong learning. In Vitebsk, for example, numerous courses are already available, attended by hundreds of students aged 18 to 82.

The Global Network of Learning Cities currently comprises 250 cities in 56 countries. Among Belarus's neighboring countries, learning cities are located in Latvia, Lithuania, Russia, and Ukraine. Furthermore, learning cities participate in international dialogue on policy, ecology, and experimental research, address issues of social inclusion, and build an economy based on new knowledge.

According to the Beijing Declaration, learning cities are open and inherently ready for mutual interaction; they cannot refuse a delegation from another country wishing to visit and are obliged to organize a reception if such a request is submitted.

South Korean partners arrived in Vitebsk for an exchange of experience. Vitebsk has much to share; as early as 2012-2013, the project "Learning Region: Education for All Generations" was implemented here. At that time, a network of partner organizations was established to promote adult continuing education and lifelong learning. Since 2015, the People's Social University has been operating in Vitebsk at the Social Service Center of the Pervomaisky District.
