The delegation from Vitebsk region worthily represented the region at the World Festival of Youth and Students in Sochi
Of course, such a large-scale forum could not leave indifferent everyone who took part in it. And the representatives of the Vitebsk region are no exception. There are a lot of impressions! Festival participant, First Secretary of the Vitebsk Regional Committee of BRSM Viktor Glushin, shared them.
— Each delegation tried to tell as much as possible about their country, its traditions, and the plans for the future that talented and active young men and women set for themselves. I think we also coped with our main task. The main media center housed the exhibition stand of the Republic of Belarus. Our guys worked there: the winners of the "Student of the Year" competition Dmitry Kukso, the winner of the "Second Vice-Miss" title of the international competition of grace and artistic skill "Queen of Spring" Kristina Nikiforova, the commanders of the construction detachments "Zodchie" and "Evrika", who became the best according to the results of the labor semester at the All-Belarusian Youth Construction Project, and others. We tried to talk about the main areas of BRSM's activities, and also focused on upcoming international events that will be held in Belarus: the II European Games in 2019 and the World Hockey Championship in 2021.
Various lecture, discussion, cultural, and sports platforms also operated in the media center. Everyone could choose the one that interested them most. For example, our guys met like-minded people from Russia who are engaged in the development of innovative projects. And, in turn, they presented the best works of the republican competition "100 Ideas for Belarus" — defended them on the spot, shared thoughts on the prospects for their implementation, and listened to the experience of foreign comrades.
Overall, we managed to communicate with various delegations. We made friends with guys and girls from Vietnam, Korea, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and Turkmenistan. During one of the "round tables," we discussed the prospects of creating a unique online platform that will allow for remote communication and discussion of pressing issues. Tajikistan has taken on the main work of implementing this project. As soon as it is launched and we have something to discuss not only in the online space, we will definitely meet in one of the countries.
— Did our delegation manage to distinguish themselves in any particular way at the festival?
— On the very first day! If only because we stood out in appearance. We had both ceremonial and sports uniforms with national symbols. And we carried ourselves like a real team. For example, the entire delegation jointly participated in the festival run of 2017 meters. And although we have different physical fitness levels, everyone coped!
— What else impressed you?
— The general atmosphere. One could talk about this for a long time. The opening of the forum was incredibly vibrant. Participants shared their achievements from the stage, with the help of stars of the Russian stage, Dmitry Koldun, Alexander Panayotov, and others. By the way, guests of the festival included Russian President Vladimir Putin and LDPR leader Vladimir Zhirinovsky. The meeting with the French writer and publicist Frederic Beigbeder was very interesting and informative. We attended the screening of the film "The Last Warrior," which will soon be released. We watched it with particular pride because among the screenwriters is Vitaly Shlyappo, a native of the Vitebsk region.
In general, every day was scheduled literally to the minute. And every one of those minutes is a huge experience that we will definitely use to ensure that the youth of Vitebsk can worthily represent our country at such large-scale meetings!
