Germany Day may appear in the program of the "Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk" in 2010

July 15, Vitebsk / Sergey Kotovets - BELTA /. A German Culture Day may be included in the program of the international arts festival "Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk" in 2010. This was announced to a BELTA correspondent by the Chairman of the Vitebsk City Executive Committee, Viktor Nikolaikin, following negotiations with a delegation from the German city of Frankfurt (Oder), which participated in the international investment forum in Vitebsk today. The issue of holding a German Culture Day among the events of "Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk" was discussed during a meeting between the Mayor of Frankfurt (Oder), Katti Volle, and the head of the festival directorate, Rodion Bass. "Our German partners have shown interest in the festival and are ready to get involved in organizing the participation of the German delegation in the Vitebsk arts forum, and the city executive committee intends to support them in this matter," Viktor Nikolaikin noted. In addition, during the investment forum, the heads of Vitebsk and Frankfurt (Oder) signed a program for the implementation of the cooperation agreement between the cities for 2009-2011. The document provides for a whole set of joint projects in the socio-cultural sphere, aimed at developing interaction between enterprises and organizations of the two cities in various areas. The partnership agreement between Vitebsk and Frankfurt (Oder) was signed in 1991, and today it is time to fill it with new ideas and projects, taking into account the accumulated experience, Viktor Nikolaikin emphasized. Thus, the program of events for 2009-2011 provides for the organization of Vitebsk Days in Frankfurt (Oder), exchange of delegations, and joint cultural and educational events. In addition, German partners have shown interest in the project for the reconstruction of a block in the area of the Marc Chagall House-Museum – the so-called Chagall Quarter, as well as in the investment potential of the "Vitebsk" free economic zone. The program of joint actions for 2009-2011 between Vitebsk and Frankfurt (Oder) will not only strengthen contacts between the residents of the two cities but also develop new prospects for cooperation, which are planned to be consolidated by signing a relevant document in 2011, Viktor Nikolaikin added. -0-
