The Day of the State Emblem and the State Flag was celebrated in Belarus

День Государственного герба и Государственного флага отпраздновали в Беларуси
The Day of the State Emblem and the State Flag of the Republic of Belarus was celebrated in our country yesterday.

This holiday was established by Decree of the President of the Republic of Belarus in 1995 and is celebrated on the second Sunday of May.

In accordance with Article 19 of the Constitution of the Republic of Belarus, the symbols of our country as a sovereign state are the State Flag, the State Emblem, and the State Anthem.

The standard of the emblem and the Regulation on the flag were approved by Decree of the President of the Republic of Belarus of June 7, 1995, based on the results of the republican referendum held on May 14, 1995, one of the questions of which was the establishment of state symbols.

On July 5, 2004, the Law of the Republic of Belarus "On State Symbols of the Republic of Belarus" was adopted, which is aimed at the legal regulation of issues of state symbols of Belarus established by the Constitution of the Republic of Belarus, and defines their description and procedure for their use.

The State Emblem of the Republic of Belarus is a green outline of the country superimposed on the golden rays of the sun rising over the globe. Above the outline is a five-pointed red star. The emblem is framed by a wreath of golden rye ears, intertwined on the right with clover flowers and on the left with flax. The ears are entwined with a red and green ribbon, on which the inscription "Рэспублiка Беларусь" is placed in gold at the bottom. This image on the coat of arms embodies the best qualities of the Belarusian people - diligence, striving for freedom, and patriotism.

The State Flag of the Republic of Belarus is a rectangular panel consisting of two horizontally placed colored stripes of red and green. Near the hoist, a Belarusian national ornament of red color on a white field is placed vertically. The red color on our flag is the color of the banners of the Red Army and Belarusian partisans who liberated their native land from the fascist invaders. Green is the color of forests and fields, a symbol of spring, hope, and rebirth. The white color of the ornament reflects the spiritual purity of Belarusians. The flag is attached to a golden colored flagpole.

The emblem and flag of the Republic of Belarus, using simple and understandable means, reflect the patriotic, historical, and cultural traditions of the country, the character of the people, and their spiritual potential. They are endowed with distinctive features and are easily recognizable among all state symbols of the world community.

State symbols - the emblem and flag of Belarus - are the history and future of the Belarusian state, the embodiment of the idea of national unity, the most important attributes of the sovereignty and independence of the Fatherland.
