Police Day celebrated in Vitebsk: flowers laid at the memorial and the best were awarded
On this day, by tradition, a wreath and flowers were laid at the memorial to employees who died in the line of duty and military service, and their memory was honored with a moment of silence.
Deputy Head of the Internal Affairs Directorate of the Regional Executive Committee Sergey Zavodsky noted that police service has always been associated with a risk to life. Today, more than 200 names of law enforcement officers have been identified who lost their lives in different periods of history while maintaining law and order and restoring legality.
Several police officers were awarded officer shoulder straps, and veterans were recognized for their active patriotic and educational work. Addressing the young colleagues, Sergey Zavodsky emphasized that they must always remember: service in law enforcement agencies requires impeccable personal qualities, dedication to duty, love for the profession, and readiness to take responsibility for every decision.
– You must become a reliable shield in the fight against crime, justify the trust of citizens, take over the baton of courage and high professionalism from previous generations, continuing the glorious traditions of the Vitebsk police, – he said.
Distinguished employees were honored with various awards at a ceremonial meeting. Winners of the photo contest, including our colleague Dmitry Osipov, were awarded for their significant personal contribution to shaping objective public opinion about the activities of internal affairs bodies.

On the eve of the holiday, a police department was opened in the Bilevo microdistrict, which is home to over 40,000 people, affiliated with the Pervomaisky District Department of Internal Affairs.
– The establishment of the department was dictated by the intensive development of the microdistrict, as well as its significant distance from the District Department of Internal Affairs, – said Ivan Kubrakov, Head of the Internal Affairs Directorate of the Regional Executive Committee, at the opening ceremony, and thanked the city leadership for their assistance in implementing the project.
